We invite you to theTwo-Year Advanced Clinical Training in NARM™ (NeuroAffective Relational Model®)
NARM is a model for working with complex trauma that integratessomatic psychotherapy, attachment theory, andcontemporary neurobiological approaches. During this course, you will develop a profound understanding of how complex trauma impacts identity, behavior, and interpersonal relationships, and learn how to address these patterns without retraumatizing clients.
This training focuses on strengthening the therapist’s clinical competencies and supporting clients in releasing early survival strategies, guiding them toward a greater sense of connection, resilience, and vitality.

STRUCTURE OF THE TRAINING
The training comprises120 in-person hours, delivered over four five-day modules. It will be conducted in English with no consecutive interpretation.
The in-person format supports deep relational experience and close connection with other participants, which is essential for embodying the NARM® approach in clinical practice.
The training combines theoretical learning and practical application, including lectures, small group work, experiential exercises, and supervision. Participants will also have opportunities to attend live demonstration sessions conducted by the lead trainer, allowing them to observe practical applications of the NARM® model.
Six-month breaks between modules provide time for integration and personal practice. Between modules, participants can join online peer learning groups, supervision sessions, and access demonstration materials.

Module 1 of the NARMTM training aims to present:

- Working with shock and developmental trauma
- Working with top-down and bottom-up integrative approach
- NARM organising principles
- Overview of 5 adaptive survival styles
- Distortions of life force
- Distress and healing cycles
- Pride and shame-based identifications
- Reframing attachment and attachment loss

Module 2 of the NARMTM training aims to present:
- Developmental process: Attachment and separation-individuation
- Asking exploratory questions
- Somatic mindfulness
- Attunement survival style
- Identifying and using resources
- Working in present time with dual awareness
- Reflecting positive shifts
- Autonomy survival style
- Working with anger and aggression
- Working with shame and guilt
Module 3 of the NARMTM training aims to present:
- Trust survival style
- Core vs default emotions
- Anger and aggression
- Narcissism and objectification
- Narcissistic vs sadistic abuse
- Supporting agency
- Love-sexuality survival style
- The psychobiological process of shame (“shame as a verb”)
- Tracking expansion and contraction/connection and disconnection
- “Drilling down” / deconstruction of experience (in the function of disidentification)
- NARM languaging
- Deepening study into the connection survival style issues, symptoms and related disorders
- The polyvagal theory
- Trait-survival style-personality disorder continuum
- Identifying core dilemma: Core themes vs survival strategies (behaviours, symptoms, etc.)
- Countertransference and the traps of goal-oriented, solution-focused psychotherapy
Module 4 of the NARMTM training aims to present:
- How to develop a working hypothesis
- Freeze and intrapsychic conflict
- Self-hatred and self-rejection
- An overview of NARM’s different orientation to working with personality disorders
- Therapist’s countertransference acting-out and re-enactment
- Unmanaged empathy and therapist efforting
- The interplay of the survival styles: Primary and secondary patterns
- Survival styles as they relate to intimacy and sexuality
- Developing capacity for pleasure
- Working with couples
- Working with identity
- Disidentification: Loneliness and freedom
- Supporting increasing complexity, capacity and resiliency
- Addressing the physical structure of the adaptive survival styles
- Working with the social engagement channels: Eyes, ears, face and touch
- Integrating NARM effectively into our clinical practice
- Addressing identity from both a psychological and non-Western perspective
Participants are required to attend all sessions of the program. Sessions of the Modules program are covered by the tuition fee, but supervision sessions have an extra cost as described below.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
The NARM® (NeuroAffective Relational Model®) is a copyrighted training program developed by Dr. Laurence Heller and certified by the NARM Training Institute (USA).
Only graduates who complete the full program and meet certification standards are authorized to use the NARM® title professionally.
Certification Criteria:
- Attendance at all four in-person modules
- Completion of a minimum of 10 accredited individual sessionswith a certified NARM® Practitioner
- Completion of a minimum of 10 accredited supervision hours(including at least 3 individual and 2 group hours with the lead trainer)
- Completion of 2 accredited individual supervision hoursfocused on reviewing a recorded NARM® session by the candidate
(All sessions and supervision hours are scheduled and paid for separately.)
Upon successful completion, graduates are eligible for listing in the International NARM® Therapist Directory.
WHO IS THE TRAINING FOR
Clinical Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Psychotraumatologists, Psychiatrists, Addition Therapists, participants of a full psychotherapeutic program or other advaced therapeutic education. Counsellors, Coaches and other Healing Practitioners with Psychotherapeutic Practice.

There will be one Group Supervision with the teacher in one evening of the training. Day and time will be informed during first day of the training.

Since 2015, continuous assistance in various NARM™/NARM™ masterclass trainings in Europe with Dr. Laurence Heller and Michael Mokrus with the authorization to offer individual sessions dedicated to self-awareness, individual supervision and group supervision as part of the training. COSTS
1. TUITION FEES PER MODULE:
- Payment Per Module: €1050 (VAT incl.)
- Payment of all 4 Modules: €1010 * 4 Modules = €4040 (VAT incl.)
- Payment by Installments (upon agreement with Ser Integral)
€1090 (VAT incl.) per module (we usually allow payment in two installments each module)
- Repeating Participants: 20% discount on the standard fee (please contact us for payment details. Proof of participantion in previous training required. Limited spaces available)
- Financial Difficulties: If you are coming from a country with significantly lower income levels compared to other European countries and are finding it difficult to cover the training costs, please reach out to us. We are open to exploring the possibility of a partial discount or other supportive arrangements.
* The fees cover participation in all in-person training modules and coffee breaks. They do not include accommodation, meals, or certification requirements (individual sessions and supervision).

By registering for the NARM™ Training in Portugal, participants are committing to the full training program, which consists of four modules.
To secure your place in the training, you are required to:

Once your application is reviewed and your participation is confirmed, you will receive:

Confirmation of your acceptance no later than 3 months before the start of Module 1.
The €250 deposit is only refundable if you are not accepted into the training. If accepted, the deposit will be deducted from your total tuition fee.
Once admitted, the remaining tuition fee must be paid in full by the deadlines outlined in the contract.

WHY AN INPERSON TRAINING
Why choose in-person training instead of online learning?
Live, experiential education is essential for integrating the NARM® model, which emphasizes the therapist’s embodied presence and the capacity for relational attunement.
In-person participation enables:
- Direct experience of body awareness – key to trauma healing
- Practice of attunement and co-regulation in real-time interaction
- Strengthening nervous system regulation – the foundation of therapeutic relationships
- Learning through embodied personal experience
This approach supports thenatural, coherent, and effective integration of NARM® into clinical practice.
ARRIVAL AND ATTENDANCE
- Arrival between 9.15-9.30am on the first day of the training is required for check-in.
- Full attendance is mandatory for certification purposes.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- The training will run with a minimum and maximum number of participants (places are limited).
- In the event that the minimum number is not reached, Ser Integral – Centro Português de Mindfulness reserves the right to cancel the training.
- The program may be subject to small adjustments according to the needs of the group and the flow of the training process.
