"To study the Buddha Way is to study the self. To study the self is to forget the self. To forget the self is to be awakened by myriad things.”~ 13th Century Philosopher priest & Zen Master, Eihei Dōgen
Freedom, connection and joy can be realised in our daily lives.
What if all our hang-ups, stresses and destructive habits came from a single basic misperception?
In a sense, this is what the Buddha taught 2500 years ago, that a profound misunderstanding of who we are and how we come to be, gives rise to all manner of stressful circumstances. Through learning and practicing mindfulness, insight lets us see through our assumptions, freeing us from stressful attitudes, perspectives and habits into a relational and joyful world where we are intimately connected with everything.
Walking this path, we release that we are fundamentally OK, and can take ourselves less seriously. In finding this new lightness of being, we open to our relationships fully and can live with an open heart.
The retreat offers guided mindfulness meditations, silence, and gentle movement to support us to turn the light of awareness inward and reveal our relational self-nature. There will be talks and discussion to clarify the practice and our understanding.
Mindful movement will be guided by Guido and will include:
- Warm-up sequence focussing on mobilising the joints
- Simple Chi Gong routine for energy flow
- Couple of yoga exercises for posture and balance
- Tai Chi sequence developing coordination
- Breathing exercise
- Deep relaxation
The course is open to all. Silence will be maintained outside of the meditation hall during the entire retreat. Attendance for the whole retreat is a prerequisite for participation.
